Challenge

Escuela Coaching sought QAwerk’s expertise to refine their online coaching platform before launch. They needed an independent assessment of the platform’s quality and user-friendliness through manual testing. Additionally, they valued QAwerk’s proven track record of successful product launches. Given these requirements, QAwerk proved to be the ideal partner.

Delivering software testing services since 2015, we’ve faced numerous challenges and improved our workflows to tackle them with maximum efficiency. Here are some peculiarities of the Escuela Coaching project that required our special attention:

  • Multiplatform Solution. The app needed to function flawlessly across three desktops and four mobile devices.
  • Functional Depth. The web app under test consists of a coach and coachee portals. We were responsible for testing both parts of the app, scrutinizing numerous functionalities such as account creation & onboarding, profile management, setting up a calendar and scheduling sessions, session history, document signing, action plan display & download, and self-assessment.
  • Tight Deadlines. We had about a month to finish all the testing on time. This required us to be proactive and closely communicate with our client’s team to ensure there’s still time for bug-fixing and retesting.

The Escuela Coaching team was well-prepared before the start of the testing and highly responsive throughout, which positively impacted our progress and allowed us to meet all their requirements easily.

Solution

QAwerk handled the entire software testing life cycle, encompassing planning, test case design, execution, and bug reporting.

  • Test Plan Development. A well-structured test plan helps allocate resources efficiently and avert bottlenecks down the line. We carefully studied Escuela Coaching’s requirements and devised a matching test plan encompassing all functionalities, user roles (coach vs. coachee), targeted platforms, and timelines.
  • Functional Testing. Our testing delved deep into the core functionalities crucial for a successful online coaching experience. We created and executed test scenarios to verify that no issues arise during registration, sign-in, or password recovery. We also tested the user journey during onboarding, ease of dashboard navigation, and in-app messaging. Our QA engineers ensured users could sign documents, edit their profiles, confirm, or cancel sessions without encountering any issues.
  • Compatibility Testing. This type of testing helps ensure a seamless user experience regardless of the device. We tested the Escuela Coaching platform on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS devices, using popular desktop and mobile browsers – Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. This process helped us identify any inconsistencies in the layout, functionality, or responsiveness across different screen sizes and operating systems.
  • Localization Testing. While headquartered in Madrid, Escuela Coaching serves a global audience. Therefore, ensuring accurate English localization was paramount. Our QA engineers meticulously reviewed the English version, verifying the precise translation of all elements from Spanish, including button text, menus, error messages, and informational content.

Through these comprehensive testing methods, we not only identified and addressed critical issues but also recommended several improvements to enhance the overall user experience of the Escuela Coaching platform.

Bugs Found

The most common bugs we found were related to data validation, missing translations, and issues with the mobile layout.

Bug

Actual result: Clicking “Send” on the Messages tab with an empty input field results in a 422 error.

Expected result: The “Send” button should be disabled if the user hasn’t entered any text into the input field.

Actual result: Changing the user’s time zone misaligns session schedules between coach and coachee calendars. Sessions might appear as completed in the coach’s calendar but upcoming in the coachee’s.

Expected result: The coach and coachee sessions should be displayed correctly in the calendar according to the user’s time zone.

Actual result: Saving edited profile information is not possible. Error messages appear, indicating fields on the form that don’t exist in the system.

Expected result: The form should display all necessary fields, and the user should not see any error messages while populating it.

Result

Escuela Coaching’s proactive collaboration and QAwerk’s comprehensive testing led to a successful and timely launch of the Digital Coaching Experience platform. Together, we identified and resolved critical issues, which resulted in a streamlined and intuitive user experience for over 300 organizations.

Our rigorous testing across target devices contributed to a robust and stable platform, increasing convenience and accessibility for a wider audience. Our testing team ensured the app delivers a clear and grammatically correct user experience in English, helping Escuela Coaching expand their global reach.
